Herringbone.

The pattern that made our name, supplied & installed by one team. Two ranges live here: the Herringbone collection of eleven colours, and our own ATS Herringbone, milled in two colours we know intimately.

The wider range

The Herringbone collection.

Eleven colours of herringbone engineered timber, 150 by 600 a piece: a French Oak surface over a plantation eucalypt core, water resistant, happy over underfloor heating, and approved for wet areas.

Our own range

ATS Herringbone.

Two colours cut from the same oak as our ATS Timber favourites: Latte is Latte Luxury cut for herringbone, and West is Light Oak. A 15mm engineered timber with a 4mm wear layer, carrying the 25 year warranty.

The case

Why Herringbone.

The sharpest price in the country

Supply & install herringbone at $179/m². Nationwide, nobody beats it, and it is not close.

Laid by our own layers

Herringbone leaves no room for shortcuts. Our own floor layers cut it through complex, awkward, character homes and keep the pattern straight.

Thirteen colours deep

From whitewash to the deepest naturals, there is a herringbone here for every home. Western is the one people ask for most.

Lacquered for real life

Coat after coat of lacquer makes the surface scratch resistant and water resistant, and the collection range is rated for underfloor heating.

The cross-section

One board, four jobs.

Cut one of these herringbone boards in half and four layers look back. Each one is there for a reason.

UV lacquer Oak wear layer Cross-ply core Backing layer

Layer proportions exaggerated for clarity.

UV lacquer

Coat after coat of UV-cured lacquer seals the surface. The finish takes the scuffs, the sunlight and the cleaning, so the oak underneath does not have to.

Oak wear layer

Solid oak, the part you see and walk on. There is enough of it to be sanded and refinished down the years, so the floor gets another life instead of a replacement.

Cross-ply core

Layers of timber glued with the grain alternating. Each ply holds its neighbours still, which is why an engineered board stays flat where solid timber moves with the seasons.

Backing layer

The bottom layer mirrors the pull of the oak on top, keeping the board true through humidity swings and underfloor heating.
